Alleged Offences: 
Contrary to Section 187 (1) of the Companies Act 1990, Mr. Sweeney, practising under the name of ‘McGrath & Company/McQuillans - DFK’; or ‘McGrath & Co/ McQuillans - DFK’ from 7 Park Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth acted as auditor of three companies when not qualified to do so. The five charges before the court related to Mr. Sweeney acting as auditor for a total of five separate financial years for the three companies. 

Outcome: 
On a plea of guilty the Court convicted the defendant in respect of all five charges pursuant to Section 187(6) and (9) of the Companies Act 1990, imposed fines totalling €2,500 and directed he pay €1,065 towards the cost of the prosecution.
