Alleged Offences:
Contrary to Section 187 (1) of the Companies Act 1990, Mr. Carron, carrying on business under the name and style of Frank Kelly & Co, acted as auditor of four companies when not qualified to do so. A total of eight charges were before the Court and these related to Mr. Carron acting as auditor for two separate financial years for each of four companies. 

Outcome:

On a plea of guilty, the Court convicted the defendant on one of the charges, pursuant to Section 187 (6) and (9) of the Companies Act 1990, imposed a fine of €1,000, and directed that the defendant pay €2,000 towards the costs of the prosecution. The remaining seven charges were taken into consideration by the Court.
